Know Before You Go

Here are the final reminders and details you need to know for the 2024 Building Michigan Communities Conference:

Registration Hours:

Monday, May 13th: 4 - 6 p.m.

Tuesday, May 14th: 7 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday, May 15th: 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Parking at the Lansing Center (333 E Michigan Ave.) is free but requires validation. Bring your parking ticket to the BMCC Help Desk each day to receive a validation ticket.

Lansing Area Road Construction: Please be aware that there is significant road work being conducted around the greater Lansing area. Even if you are familiar with the area, we highly recommend using your GPS for fastest routes to the Lansing Center and your hotels.

BMCC Mobile App (no printed program booklet provided)

  • Download the Attendee Mobile app from the app store
  • Search for event: 2024 Building MI Communities
  • Log in with your email address and password used for BMCC registration to access the "My Agenda" and chat features
  • NASW credits will be tracked through the mobile app
  • Slides and handouts, if provided, available in mobile app

Special Elements You Can't Miss!

  • Visit our Exhibit Hall with over 60 booths, as well as a tiny house and Universal Design display!
  • Good Will Hunting - BMCC is providing personal care items for distribution by our exhibitors on Tuesday. Attendees will be challenged to collect these items in a scavenger hunt throughout the exhibit hall for donation to various shelter providers throughout the state. This year's Good Will Hunting benefits Loaves and Fishes, Child & Family Charities, and Alger Marquette Community Action.
  • BMCC Bookstore - Visit the BMCC bookstore in the Exhibit Hall to purchase some of the latest and greatest publications around housing and community building! Open until Wednesday at 1:15 p.m.
  • First time attending BMCC? Come for breakfast that opens at 7 a.m. then join other first-time attendees at 7:45 a.m. before the official event kickoff in Exhibit Hall BC to make connections, meet the conference planners, and share tips for making the most of your time at the event!
  • Join us for cake! Celebrate BMCC's 25th anniversary at the Welcome Reception on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in Exhibit Hall A.
  • Chair Yoga - Stretch Yourself – Wednesday, 8 a.m. in Room 104
  • Photo Op with Closing Keynotes Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas - Stick around following the closing keynote for a chance to grab a selfie with the HGTV stars!

What to Bring:

1. Personal reusable water bottles (water filling stations available throughout the building)

2. Wear layers (it is difficult for us to control the temperature)

3. Cell phone or tablet, notetaking tools

4. Tissues (masks and hand sanitizer available onsite if needed).

 

Programming kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday!

Full breakfast is served at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
