MC'd by comedian Horace H.B. Sanders, Steal My Idea is a new event for the 2023 BMCC – a show within a show! It is a cross between the Gong Show and Shark Tank. The presenters are given about two minutes to pitch their innovative ideas to an audience primed and hyped beforehand by an expert MC. Each presenter is thrown a "curve ball" (think hula hoop or scarves to juggle or clarinet to toot) in the middle of their presentation. The audience hoots and hollers and claps and, at the end, electronically votes for their favorite, brave innovator. Innovative ideas will be tied to the priorities of the Statewide Housing Plan, and housing partners will enjoy both hearing about them and joining in the fun. Prizes will be awarded!

Horace has extensive experience as a radio personality and was the co-host of Angelo Henderson’s “Your Voice" in Detroit, Michigan. Within the last few years Horace expanded his voice into the world of storytelling and had his work featured internationally on NPR and "The Moth". He was soon after snagged to tour with one of their main-stage shows where he was met with newfound success and appreciation.
